Award winning Jaguar I-Pace to go on sale in March
After much anticipation, the Jaguar I-PACE will finally be revealed in a global broadcast on 19:00 CET on 01 March 2018 ahead of its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show on 06 March.
While a number of ultra low emission cars are set to be launched in 2018, few offer as much excitement as Jaguar's I-Pace. The pure-electric crossover will enter new territory for Jaguar, showing that the iconic British marque is now engaging with electric power-trains with vigour.
While we wait for the full specs to be published, the original concept vehicle was powered by a 90 kWh battery and a couple of 200 hp electric motors giving the SUV 400 hp. This fits with the soon-to-be released model which Jaguar has indicated an EV range of more than 220 miles on the EPA cycle.
Jaguar has also indicated that the I-Pace will be able to recharge to 80 percent in around 1.5 hours on a 50 kW rapid charger (45 mins on a 100 kW unit), a time which reflects the large size of the battery which has twice the capacity of a latest 40 kWh Nissan LEAF.
Entry into Formula E and the creation of a single-make racing series based on the I-Pace show Jaguar's plug-in intentions, and the I-Pace is expected to come into the EV market as a class leader from the outset.
